Free logo design
While I’ve spent close to ten years now offering free templates and backgrounds, I have talked about free hosting, blogs, themes, phplist templates, something that I have not yet covered is logo design.
Logos and branding are equally (if not more) important then any other aspect of web site design and so today I thought I’d cover the subject finally by introducing a free logo design web site.
There are quiet a few other sites offering automated free logo design using a script or program, to me what sets this site apart is that it’s actual human designers who are creating the free logos.
You need to register at the site, pick from a good selection of logo templates, specify your personalization requirements (colour and text) and within a couple of days your logo will be emailed to you in .gif format. If you would like the vector .eps or .ai format the cost is $39.99 but unless you plan to use these files you don’t need to buy them.
You don’t really get much better value for money really so if you are looking for free logos for startups (or anyone) head over to freelogoservices.com to order your logo.
Edit: One of our commenters has pointed out that this site may not be free if you are outside the US.

I saw one website with all different kinds of design templates. It’s a stock photography site but has vector art and illustrations. Just use those keywords to narrow your search, and then use the great visual search tools to quickly find what you want.

One of the criteria used by google for site rankings is site speed. You can increase your rankings if you get better hosting, currently your site takes a bit long to load. tested it 3 times to see. Dont worry i dont sell hosting, just thought i’d share this fact with you. Excellent site btw.
Not positive if someone’s ever stated this to you or not, but if I use the Opera browser to load your blog, it fails to load accurately. A few of the images typically are not loading and the text seems to be out of alignment. Just figured I’d inform you so you can look into it.

Awesome content, you don’t get the full credit for your content because you don’t get enough people to view it, you should invest in backlinks and On-Page SEO for long term visitors.

Cool. Just to share, you can also get other types of professional clip arts or logo templates, there are many ways to do so. I recently got some professional logo templates from http://www.templatedesignworkshop.com and the logo design looked amazing. Plus they have an extensive clip art gallery as well. The process was fast and easy. Highly recommended. Anyway thanks for posting this!
Based on the definition given by AIGA, you own the copyright of your own design once “you create it in a “fixed” form of expression” but the question is where can you draw this line?
For example, say I am going to design a logotype (ie. a logo that is made out of a typeface only)… this means I will have to use a typeface designed by another designer. Assuming I have paid for the license of that particular typeface, does this give me exclusive rights to change / alter the typeface and then resell it onto a client?
So what can we do?
So to clarify, to use any part of a scalable typeface in a logo design that we want to resell onto a client, we must first read the user agreement and / or check with foundry to confirm whether we may use the typeface in the logo design.
